The best time to travel to Taiwan
We recommend travelling to Taiwan between late September and December. Once the rainy season is over, the humidity drops and the country is full of sunshine, events and festivals for you to enjoy! Highlights include New Year's Eve, Double Tenth Day, the Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival, Lunar New Year and the Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Ride one of the world's fastest lifts up Taipei 101 and enjoy a 360-degree view over the capital, hike in the Central Mountains, visit the National Palace Museum or eat your way through one of the many night markets … don't forget the stinky tofu!
Bathe in one of the many natural hot springs, spend a night on a tea farm, visit one of the many temples or take a trip out to the salt fields. You're spoilt for choice, whether you want an adventure holiday, a relaxing getaway or an educational experience in Taiwan – and the best part is that it's all connected by train!
- High season: February and October, due to the many public holidays
- Low season: the rest of the year, except the rainy season, February and October
- Rainy season: June to September
